UK freezes assets of Iran's state shipping line and sanctions Russian cargo ship

The UK has imposed asset freezes on Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and Iran Air, and placed shipping sanctions on the Russian cargo ship Port Olya-3, gCaptain reports. The measures aim to disrupt the transfer of ballistic missiles and weapons from Iran to Russia for its war in Ukraine. The UK has now sanctioned more than 450 Iranian individuals and entities. Transport Secretary Louise Haigh said any support for Russia's war "will not be tolerated". The move came as the EU expanded its own sanctions on shipping routes and Iranian ports used to send drones and missiles to Russia.
