Tanker Ceres I heads for China months after collision off Singapore
The VLCC Ceres I, which collided with the products tanker Hafnia Nile near Malaysia and Singapore in July, is heading to Zhoushan in eastern China, Bloomberg reports, citing ship-tracking data. Both ships caught fire in the collision, without injuries. Bloomberg says the São Tomé and Príncipe-flagged tanker, managed by Hong Kong-based Ceres Shipping, appears on a list of vessels suspected of carrying Iranian oil in breach of US sanctions, called at Iran's Kharg Island terminal in March and has switched off its transponder to avoid detection. It currently has no known insurer.
