US targets tankers carrying Iranian oil for Houthi financier Sa'id al-Jamal

The US Treasury designated 18 companies, individuals and vessels on 17 October for shipping Iranian oil on behalf of Sa'id al-Jamal, a Houthi financial official. Treasury alleges that in mid-August the Yorgos and the Guyana-flagged Olympics carried out a ship-to-ship transfer to load a sanctioned cargo, and it designated both ships' masters. Eight other tankers flagged in Panama, the Cook Islands, Palau and Barbados were listed, along with the Eco Max companies and Indo Gulf Ship Management, which Treasury says manages the Kukki. 'The Houthis remain reliant on Sa'id al-Jamal's international network,' said Acting Under Secretary Bradley Smith.
