US sanctions Syrian conglomerate's network and tankers over Iranian oil sales

The US Treasury sanctioned 26 companies, individuals and vessels linked to the Al-Qatirji Company, a Syrian conglomerate it says earns hundreds of millions of dollars for Iran's IRGC-Qods Force and the Houthis by selling Iranian oil to Syria and China. Treasury says the company ships millions of barrels of Iranian oil and has become one of the Qods Force's main financial channels. The vessels listed include Baron, Romina, Chloe, Joel, Lotus, Rex 1, Ramona I, Lelia, Eline, Celine, Mia and Lia. "Iran is increasingly relying on key business partners" such as Al-Qatirji, said Acting Under Secretary Bradley Smith.
