EU sanctions Iran's state shipping line over missile and drone transfers to Russia

The EU has sanctioned Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and its director Mohammad Reza Khiabani, along with Russian shipping firms MG Flot, VTS Broker and Arapax, over Iran's military support to Russia, gCaptain reports. The measures also ban transactions with the Iranian ports of Amirabad and Anzali, which the EU says are used to move Iranian drones, missiles and related technology to Russia. The EU additionally prohibited the export to Iran of EU components used to develop and produce missiles and drones. The EU had described Iran's transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia as a "direct threat to European security".
