US targets firms selling oil for Iran's armed forces general staff

The US Treasury sanctioned nearly two dozen firms it says are involved in almost every part of Iran's oil trade on behalf of the Armed Forces General Staff and its commercial arm, Sepehr Energy. Treasury says Iran allocates billions of dollars of oil a year to its armed forces to fund missiles, drones and regional armed groups. Vessels including Siri, Hecate, Balu and Roc were named. Treasury said it had by then taken 19 actions against 253 individuals, entities and vessels linked to Iran and its proxies since January.
