US targets Iranian LPG magnate whose tanker tried to load off Houston

The US Treasury sanctioned Iranian businessman Seyed Asadoollah Emamjomeh and his network, which it says shipped hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of Iranian liquefied petroleum gas and crude oil abroad. Treasury says one of the network's vessels, Tinos I, tried and failed to load a cargo off Houston, Texas, in 2024. It argues LPG has become a major revenue source for Iran's government, funding its weapons programmes and groups such as Hizballah, the Houthis and Hamas. Secretary Scott Bessent said the network sought to export thousands of LPG shipments.
