US targets network shipping Iranian crude to China for Iran's armed forces

The US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned an international network it says shipped Iranian crude worth hundreds of millions of dollars to China on behalf of Iran's Armed Forces General Staff. Treasury says the network used falsified shipping documents and front companies in places including India, the UAE and Hong Kong to hide the oil's origin. Vessels identified include Siri, Oxis, Gioiosa, Elsa, Hebe, Boreas, CH Billion and Star Forest. It was the first Iran oil action of the new US administration's maximum pressure policy.
