Sanctioned Chinese heavy-lift ship that served Arctic LNG 2 waits near Norwegian border
The heavy-lift carrier Ya Qing Hai Yang, formerly named Ocean 28, has drifted for several days near the Aynov Islands, less than 30 km from Russia's maritime border with Norway, The Barents Observer reported on 8 October. According to the paper, the ship, which sailed from Zhuhai in China, is one of several Chinese heavy-lift vessels that have delivered industrial modules to Russia's Arctic LNG 2 project, together with its sister ships Bright and Glory. It says all three vessels, their owners and the LNG project appear on international sanctions lists. Citing Equasis, the paper reports that Ya Qing Hai Yang now sails under a false Guatemalan flag. Where the ship will go next is unclear.
