US sanctions Arctic shipping operators and heavy-lift ships serving Arctic LNG 2
The US State Department has announced sanctions against four shipping operators and their vessels over deliveries to Russia's Arctic projects, gCaptain reports. Singapore-based Red Box, whose Pugnax and Audax carried seven of the 26 modules for Arctic LNG 2, and Hong Kong-based CFU Shipping, whose Hunter Star delivered the final module for the project's second train, were among those listed. Russian operators Eko Shipping and Transstroy were also named, along with 12 of their vessels, which the article says delivered hundreds of thousands of tonnes of materials to Arctic LNG 2 and Rosneft's Vostok Oil project. The State Department said the action showed US resolve to constrain Arctic LNG 2's production and export capacity.
