Satellite images show Russian ships shuttling North Korean cargo to Far East port, RUSI says
Two Russian-flagged cargo ships, Angara and Maria, have made at least five round trips since mid-August between North Korea's Rajin port and a secure facility at Dunai in Russia's Far East, according to satellite imagery analysed by the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and reported by The Washington Post. RUSI analysts and US officials say the vessels' links to Russia's military logistics network strongly suggest they carry military equipment, although the cargo cannot be seen. Both ships switched off their AIS transponders shortly before starting the route, the report says. The White House alleged North Korea had sent up to 1,000 containers of "equipment and munitions" to Russia.
