Pioneer hands Arctic LNG 2 cargo to New Energy off Port Said

The LNG carrier Pioneer transferred a cargo from Russia's sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 project to the vessel New Energy on 25 August, about 20 nautical miles north-east of Port Said near the Suez Canal, gCaptain reports, calling it the shadow fleet's first ship-to-ship LNG transfer. The operation was first spotted by TankerTrackers. Both ships had switched off their AIS transponders, and Pioneer had circled north of Port Said for days. Pioneer had loaded about three weeks earlier and was sanctioned by the US State Department on 23 August, while New Energy was not under sanctions at the time of reporting. A third carrier, Asya Energy, had returned to Russian Arctic waters, the outlet says.
