Sanctioned LNG carriers with Arctic LNG 2 cargoes gather off Russia's Pacific coast

Three sanctioned tankers loaded with gas from Arctic LNG 2, the Nova Energy, Pioneer and Asya Energy, are anchored off Russia's far eastern coast, Bloomberg reports via gCaptain. The Pioneer is near Nakhodka, and none of the cargoes has reached an overseas port, which Bloomberg sees as a sign of difficulty finding buyers. It says the plant halted liquefaction this month because Western sanctions limit its shipping and sales, and that it had offered discounted cargoes to Chinese and other Asian buyers. Delivery of a Russian-built ice-class tanker from the Zvezda shipyard has slipped to early 2025.
