UK-sanctioned former Sovcomflot tankers reflag to Barbados, Bloomberg says
Three tankers sanctioned by Britain, Galaxy, Liberty and Rigel, have moved to the Barbados flag, Bloomberg reports. The Barbados registry is run from the country's High Commission in London. The ships previously flew Gabon's flag while owned by Russia's state-run Sovcomflot, and all three carried Russian oil in 2024. According to Bloomberg, Liberty, formerly NS Laguna, loaded Urals crude on 16 August and was bound for India; Rigel, formerly Primorsky Prospect, had delivered crude to India; and Galaxy, formerly Korolev Prospect, reached Murmansk on 12 August. Registry chief Giovanni Ciniglio confirmed provisional registration but declined further comment.
