US sanctions tankers moving Iranian oil and gas to Syria and East Asia
The US Treasury designated more than a dozen entities and vessels on 25 September over shipments of Iranian crude and liquefied petroleum gas to Syria and East Asia that it says benefit the IRGC-Qods Force and Hizballah. Nine ships were named, most of them Panama-flagged, including three managed by Star Ocean Shipmanage and four linked to the network of Syrian shipowner Abdul Jalil Mallah. His brother, Luay al-Mallah, was also designated. Treasury says the Eternal Success was used for transfers as recently as July 2024, with its tracking manipulated during ship-to-ship operations in East Asia. Companies in Hong Kong, Lebanon and Turkey were also listed.
