South Korea sanctions two ships and Hong Kong firm over North Korean coal transfer
South Korea's foreign and finance ministries imposed sanctions on two vessels and a Hong Kong shipping company for breaching UN Security Council resolutions on trade with North Korea, The Maritime Executive reports. The stateless cargo ship De Yi, detained by South Korea in March, is owned by HK Yilin Shipping, which was also sanctioned. Officials say De Yi left China on 18 March with its AIS switched off and received 4,500 tons of North Korean anthracite in a ship-to-ship transfer from the North Korean-flagged Tok Song (Deokseong). The De Yi was reportedly bound for Vladivostok. Seoul says Tok Song was regularly used in breach of sanctions.
