US sanctions ship firms and tankers in Houthi financier Sa'id al-Jamal's network
The US Treasury has sanctioned shipping companies, ship masters and vessels it says serve the network of Houthi financier Sa'id al-Jamal, designated for supporting Iran's IRGC-Qods Force. Treasury says al-Jamal uses foreign shipping firms to sell and transport commodities to China, Syria and elsewhere. Targets include UAE- and Oman-based Shark International Shipping, which it accuses of forging documents, and India-based Rayyan Shipping, manager of the sanctioned tanker Olympics, formerly Lady Sofia. Hong Kong's Lainey Shipping and Panama's Louis Marine Shipholding, owners of the Janet and Bella 1, were also designated; Treasury says both ships carried cargo for a Hizballah-owned firm to Southeast Asia.
