New Jersey governor Mikie Sherrill says she is weighing ways to stop Russian diesel tankers docking in the state

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill told the Financial Times she was evaluating options to stop tankers carrying Russian diesel from arriving at a New Jersey port, The Telegraph reports. She called the Trump–Putin diesel deal "corrupt and illegal". The Telegraph notes that New Jersey is the East Coast's largest petroleum import and distribution hub, and that it is unclear what power she has to block the ships. Three tankers with about 140,000 tonnes of diesel are due at US ports shortly after the midterm elections. The Moscow Times, citing the FT, says the owner of Agioi Fanendes reports the ship is awaiting orders with no discharge port confirmed, and that the sanctioned Leruo and Talisman show the same status.
