G7 leaders pledge action against Russia's shadow fleet in Apulia communiqué

Leaders of the Group of Seven, meeting in Apulia, Italy, pledged to take steps including sanctions and "innovative enforcement activities" against Russia's use of a shadow fleet to circumvent sanctions. Their communiqué says they will impose further measures on those using deceptive practices to transport Russian oil and on networks Russia has built to profit from price cap violations or from sales via alternative service providers. The leaders also committed to tighten compliance with and enforcement of the oil price cap while maintaining market stability. On North Korea, they reiterated their commitment to counter sanctions evasion and criticised Russia's veto of the UN Panel of Experts' mandate renewal.
