Denmark steps up inspections of tankers anchoring off Skagen

The Danish Maritime Authority is tightening checks on tankers that anchor at Skagen in the Danish straits, The Maritime Executive reports. It will inspect ships that cannot be considered to be in harmless passage, using port state control methods to pick out high-risk vessels because of the potential for severe environmental damage. The authority described the step as part of its work to promote quality shipping. Denmark agreed with other European states two months earlier to check ships' insurance and documents, after incidents including the 2024 collision of the tanker Andromeda Star.
