Laden tanker Eventin drifts off Rügen after losing power
The Panama-flagged tanker Eventin, carrying about 99,000 tonnes of oil, lost manoeuvrability north of the German island of Rügen on 10 January and drifted for several hours before the emergency tug Bremen Fighter took it in tow, gCaptain reports. Germany's Central Command for Maritime Emergencies took charge of the response; the 24 crew stayed aboard. AIS data showed the 274-metre ship had sailed from Ust-Luga in Russia bound for Port Said, Egypt. According to the outlet, the tanker is suspected of belonging to Russia's shadow fleet.
