UK sanctions 18 oil tankers and four LNG carriers in its largest shadow fleet package

The UK sanctioned 18 oil tankers and four LNG carriers on 17 October in what it called its largest package yet against Russia's shadow fleet. The government says the 18 oil tankers carried an estimated $4.9 billion of cargo over the previous year and bring the number of oil tankers it has sanctioned to 43. The LNG carriers include Mulan and Everest Energy, and the Russian gas company Rusgazdobycha was also designated. Foreign Secretary David Lammy said the UK must 'combat malign Russian activity at every turn'.
