US boards supertanker Majestic X east of Sri Lanka
US forces boarded the very large crude carrier Majestic X, also known as Phonix, in the Indian Ocean east of Sri Lanka, World Oil reported, citing Bloomberg. The Pentagon described the ship as a stateless vessel transporting oil from Iran; the report said it can carry 2 million barrels. The article said US forces had by then ordered 29 vessels to turn around or return to port under the blockade of Iranian shipping, and cited Tankertrackers.com as counting six tankers interdicted. It also noted the tanker Dorena was being escorted by a US destroyer in the Indian Ocean.
