US Central Command announces blockade of Iranian ports

US Central Command said it would enforce a blockade of all maritime traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports in the Gulf and the Gulf of Oman from 10am Eastern time on 13 April. It said the measure applies to ships of all nations, but that it would not impede vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports. Commercial mariners would receive formal notice and were told to monitor maritime broadcasts and use VHF channel 16 to communicate with US naval forces.
