Dark ship-to-ship transfers of Russian oil detected in Sea of Japan

Satellite analytics firm SynMax detected two ship-to-ship transfers of Russian oil in the Sea of Japan on 7 September, gCaptain reported. According to the report, the tanker Jagger, which loaded near Murmansk on 20 July, transferred cargo to the Navistar, while the Mirabel, which left Primorsk on 24 July, discharged into the Lumin; both receiving ships had their AIS transponders switched off. The transfers took place south of Nakhodka Bay, farther offshore than earlier activity, and SynMax said they were the first it had seen in that area. Two other tankers, Ligovsky Prospect and Primavera, delivered oil directly to the Chinese ports of Dongying and Lanshan, gCaptain said.
