Gabon-flagged tankers carry Russian crude along the Northern Sea Route

Tankers registered in Gabon are carrying Russian crude through Arctic waters on the Northern Sea Route, The Barents Observer reports. The Sai Baba loaded oil in Murmansk in mid-September and was due in the Chinese port of Huizhou on 15 October. According to the paper, the NS Nordic and SCF Baltica were likely to follow, the Moskovsky Prospect appeared to be heading from India to Murmansk, and the SCF Yenisey, Suvorovsky Prospect and Nanda Devi sailed the route in late September. The paper says Gabon's registry doubled in a single month and that Gabon was added to the list of flags of convenience in May 2024.
