Germany confiscates tanker Eventin and its cargo of Russian crude
German authorities have issued a confiscation order making the tanker Eventin and its roughly 100,000 tonnes of crude oil German property, Baird Maritime reports, citing Reuters and Der Spiegel. The Panama-flagged ship had been found adrift off Rügen in January while sailing from Russia to Egypt. Customs carried out the seizure; the vessel had been added to the EU's 16th sanctions package. The cargo was valued at around €40 million. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow had no information about the ship or its owner.
