More Russian diesel tankers could sail under US sanctions waiver, Energy Secretary Wright says

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright told CNBC on 27 October that further tankers carrying Russian diesel could possibly depart under the administration's sanctions waiver, depending on Moscow's actions, International Business Times reports. According to the report, Wright presented the relief as an incentive for Russia to end the war in Ukraine, saying it was "trying to put a carrot in front of Russia", and announced no new volume. IBTimes says the arrangement provides for Russia to export 800,000 tonnes of diesel in October and November, followed by another million tonnes. Analysts cited by CNBC judged the volumes too small to lower diesel prices materially, the report adds.
