Sanctioned Everest Energy begins using Saam FSU storage near Murmansk

The sanctioned LNG carrier Everest Energy has moored alongside the Saam FSU, a floating storage unit in Ura-Guba Bay about 50 kilometres north-west of Murmansk, to transfer cargo, gCaptain reports. The 361,600 cubic metre unit, built by South Korea's Hanwha and towed into position in June 2023, had been idle because of sanctions. According to gCaptain, it now appears integral to Russia's efforts to move gas from the sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 project using shadow fleet vessels, following several recent loadings there. An LNG specialist told the outlet the barge could provide a storage buffer of around 16 days, depending on production.
