Rosneft delays Arctic Vostok Oil project, citing sanctions and tanker shortage

Rosneft has pushed back the start of its Vostok Oil project on Siberia's Arctic coast to 2026, citing Western sanctions and a lack of ice-capable tankers, gCaptain reports. The project needs about 50 high ice-class vessels for year-round access to its terminal, but an initial order for 10 ships at Russia's Zvezda shipyard has produced no deliveries. Western restrictions have badly limited Rosneft's ability to obtain ice-capable ships from foreign yards, according to the report. The first phase is meant to produce 30 million tonnes a year, rising to 100 million tonnes by 2030.
