CREA: shadow tankers carried 80% of Russia's seaborne crude in November
Shadow tankers carried 80% of Russia's seaborne crude oil by volume in November, the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) says in its monthly analysis. Of 369 vessels that exported Russian crude and oil products during the month, 206 were shadow tankers, and 28% of those were at least 20 years old. Revenue from seaborne crude fell 6% month on month to €200 million a day. CREA also counted €201 million of Russian oil moved in ship-to-ship transfers in EU waters, down 31% on October. It estimates that OFAC's first sanctions on shadow tankers cut Russia's crude export revenue by 5%.
