US sanctions Iraqi businessman's network for passing off Iranian oil as Iraqi

The US Treasury sanctioned a network of companies run by Iraqi businessman Salim Ahmed Said that it says profited from smuggling Iranian oil disguised as, or blended with, Iraqi oil, with some proceeds benefiting the Revolutionary Guards' Qods Force. Several vessels used to deliver Iranian oil covertly were also designated. Secretary Scott Bessent said Treasury would keep targeting Tehran's revenue. Treasury described it as the eighth round of Iran oil sanctions under the maximum pressure memorandum.
