Norway detains sanctioned heavy-lift ship Ya Qing Hai Yang off Andøya, The Insider reports

Norwegian authorities have detained the sanctioned heavy-lift ship Ya Qing Hai Yang near the island of Andøya in northern Norway, The Insider reported on 20 October, saying the authorities had confirmed the detention. The ship, formerly named Ocean 28, was sanctioned after carrying power-generation modules from China in October 2024 to Utrenny, the port serving Russia's Arctic LNG 2 project. It flies Guatemala's flag, which The Insider, citing Lloyd's List, describes as potentially false. A second, Chinese-flagged ship, Jian Yang Cheng He, which is not sanctioned, was also stopped; according to the Coast Guard, both had sought shelter there from a storm. The authorities have not disclosed the results of the inspections.
