Iran frees Greek tankers Delta Poseidon and Prudent Warrior as Lana leaves Greece

Iran has released the Greek-flagged tankers Delta Poseidon and Prudent Warrior, seized in the Gulf in May, Greece's shipping ministry said on 16 November, according to Reuters. Iran had detained the ships after the US confiscated oil from an Iranian-flagged tanker off Greece. Iran's foreign ministry said the Iranian tanker held in Greece, the Lana, formerly the Pegas, had also left Greek waters, and that both countries had signed a memorandum to cooperate on maritime security. Delta Tankers said its ship would sail to Fujairah for inspections, while Polembros, manager of the Prudent Warrior, said 17 of its 24 crew had been replaced. A Greek government source said all vessels left on the same day.
