Iran's Revolutionary Guards seize two Greek tankers in the Gulf
Iran's Revolutionary Guards said on 27 May they had seized two Greek oil tankers in the Gulf over unspecified violations, Al-Monitor reports. Greece's foreign ministry called the move piracy and said Iranian helicopters had landed commandos on both ships: the Delta Poseidon was in international waters and the Prudent Warrior near the Iranian coast. The seizures followed Greece's earlier seizure of the Russian-flagged tanker Pegas and its Iranian cargo under EU sanctions linked to the invasion of Ukraine. Athens had confirmed plans to hand about 115,000 tonnes of the Iranian oil to the US at the Treasury's request, a transfer Iran's foreign ministry called a "clear violation" of international law.
