Russian tanker's crude eased Cuba's power cuts, Cuban ambassador says, according to Russian media
Cuba's ambassador to Russia, Enrique Orta Gonzalez, told a press conference at the embassy in Moscow that crude oil delivered by the Russian-flagged tanker Anatoly Kolodkin brought great relief to Cubans, the Russian news agency Prime reports. According to Prime, the ambassador said the cargo shortened the island's power cuts by about two weeks and that the ship was the only crude tanker to reach Cuba in 2026. Prime describes the cargo as 100,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid and says Russia's transport ministry reported its arrival in late March. The agency notes that President Donald Trump signed an order in January allowing tariffs on imports from countries that supply oil to Cuba.
