Ukraine says naval drones hit sanctioned tanker Marquise in Black Sea
Ukraine's General Staff said its navy struck the tanker Marquise with two kamikaze drones about 210 kilometres south-east of the Russian port of Tuapse, the Kyiv Independent reported. According to the General Staff, the ship was empty, had its automatic identification system switched off and was probably waiting to load cargo from another vessel at sea. Damage was still being assessed. The report said the tanker is sanctioned by the EU, the UK, Canada, Switzerland, New Zealand and Ukraine, is operated by UAE-based Lidoil DMCC, and has carried Russian oil and oil products since December 2023.
