UK sanctions 20 more tankers, taking its shadow fleet tally past 100 vessels

The UK sanctioned 20 more tankers on 17 December, European Pravda reports, bringing the number of vessels it has sanctioned to more than 100, including 93 oil tankers. Those named include Ocean Faye, Andaman Skies and Mianzimu, each of which the UK says carried more than 4 million barrels of Russian oil in 2024. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the sanctions would "add further pressure to Putin's stalling war economy". The UK also pledged £35 million to repair Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
