EU's 15th sanctions package lists 52 more vessels, taking total to 79

The EU adopted its 15th package of sanctions against Russia on 16 December, adding 52 vessels from third countries to its list and bringing the total to 79, the Council of the EU said. Listed ships face a port access ban and a ban on a broad range of maritime services. The Council says the measures target non-EU tankers in Putin's shadow fleet that get round the oil price cap or support Russia's energy sector, and ships used to carry military equipment or stolen Ukrainian grain. The package also adds 54 individuals and 30 entities, including, for the first time, full sanctions on Chinese actors supplying drone and microelectronic components.
