Russian refiners raise diesel output after export quotas for US deal, Reuters reports

Russian refiners are increasing diesel production in October after the government issued export quotas linked to the Kremlin's fuel supply agreement with the United States, Reuters reports, citing two industry sources. According to the sources, output fell to about 160,000 tonnes a day in the first half of the month, from 175,000 in September, and began rising towards 180,000 tonnes a day once quotas arrived in mid-October. With domestic demand usually easing to about 140,000 tonnes a day in October, at least 40,000 tonnes a day would be left for export, the sources said. Russia's diesel export ban, in force since August, has allowed exemptions since 1 October so that quotas can be issued for the deal.
