Former Rosneft executive's feud with Coral oil-trading network plays out in Dubai and Brazilian courts, WSJ reports
A business dispute between former Rosneft executive Igor Soglayev and traders linked to the Coral network, which Britain sanctioned in December 2024, is being fought in courts in Dubai and Brazil, The New Arab reports, citing a Wall Street Journal investigation. Soglayev's Dubai firm Dia33 planned to sell Russian diesel in Brazil, but the partnership collapsed after a tanker carrying the fuel was refused by a Brazilian port. A Dubai arbitration ruling ordered Soglayev to pay about $42 million; he is seeking more than $500 million in damages and says he received death threats. In June a Dubai judge froze up to $704 million of the defendants' assets. The defendants deny wrongdoing, and the network denies breaching sanctions.
