US sanctions tankers Dawn II and Abyss in sixth round against Houthi financier's network

The US Treasury on 26 March sanctioned the tankers Dawn II and Abyss and several companies in what it called the sixth round of action since December 2023 against the network of Sa'id al-Jamal, an Iran-based Houthi financial facilitator backed by the Revolutionary Guards Qods Force. Treasury says the Panama-flagged Dawn II, owned by Liberia-based Hassaleh International Company, shipped Iranian commodities to China. It says the Palau-flagged Abyss used forged shipping documents to disguise the Iranian origin of cargo bound for China. India-based KNH Shipping Private Limited was designated for allegedly procuring forged documents, alongside the Abyss's Vietnamese owner and Indian manager.
