EU's 19th package adds 117 vessels and bans Russian LNG imports

The EU's 19th sanctions package, adopted on 23 October, lists 117 more vessels, taking the number of sanctioned ships to 557, and widens the criteria for listing shadow fleet ships, Latvia's foreign ministry says. It bans imports of Russian LNG, within six months for short-term contracts and from 1 January 2027 for long-term ones, and of Russian LPG. The package also prohibits reinsurance of shadow fleet vessels, bans transactions with certain third-country ports used to circumvent sanctions and targets other parts of the fleet's support network.
