EU 14th package bans 27 vessels from ports and services and targets Russian LNG
The EU Council has adopted a 14th package of sanctions against Russia that subjects 27 vessels to a port access and services ban. The Council says the ships transported military equipment for Russia, carried stolen Ukrainian grain or supported Russia's energy sector, including tankers in what it calls Putin's "dark fleet" that circumvent price caps using deceptive shipping practices. The package also bans reloading services for Russian LNG in EU territory for transshipment to third countries, covering ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore transfers, and prohibits new investment in LNG projects under construction, including Arctic LNG 2 and Murmansk LNG. Restrictions also apply to Russian LNG imports through terminals not connected to the gas grid.
