Denmark logged 292 voyages by EU-sanctioned tankers in its waters in 2025
The Danish Maritime Authority says EU-sanctioned tankers made 292 voyages through Danish waters in 2025, roughly one a day, Euronews reports. The authority said it was closely monitoring ships and cooperating with like-minded countries around the Baltic Sea. According to the report, around 598 Russia-linked vessels are on the EU sanctions list and barred from European ports, many of them ageing tankers carrying crude, petrol and diesel from the Gulf of Finland. Euronews notes concerns over oil spill risks and suspected involvement in sabotage, citing the December 2024 cable damage blamed on the Eagle S, a case later dismissed by a Helsinki court.
