Danish investigative outlet Danwatch has documented accounts of uniformed Russian men aboard shadow fleet tankers passing through the Danish straits, The Maritime Executive reports. A licensed pilot and maritime court judge told Danwatch the men exercise authority on board, treat pilots with disrespect and appear to control the foreign crews, creating an intimidating atmosphere on the bridge. Denmark's pilotage agency and the foreign and justice ministries declined to comment.
