Iran-linked tanker Skylight hit and set on fire off Oman's Musandam peninsula
The Palau-flagged tanker Skylight, sanctioned by the US Treasury in December 2025 as part of Iran's shadow fleet, was struck about five nautical miles north of Khasab near the Strait of Hormuz and caught fire, gCaptain reports. Oman's Maritime Security Centre did not say what hit it; four of the 20 crew were injured and all were evacuated. A social media post suggested Iranian forces targeted it for passing the strait illegally. The outlet says it was the first time targets in or near Oman had been hit since Iran began retaliating against Gulf states.
