US Treasury sanctions 12 more tankers in Iran's oil trade
The US Treasury has designated 12 tankers it says belong to Iran's shadow fleet, part of more than 30 new designations of entities, individuals and vessels, gCaptain reports. Named ships include Ocean Koi, Felicita and Alaa, flagged variously in Panama, Barbados and Iran. Nine individuals and entities in Iran, Turkey and the UAE were also targeted, among them the Turkish firms Utus, Arya and Altis and four Iranian nationals. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent accused Iran of exploiting financial systems to sell oil illicitly, launder the proceeds and buy weapons components. The report did not give IMO numbers.
