UK sanctions more than 20 tankers and four Arctic LNG 2 carriers

The UK announced 70 new Russia-related sanctions on 16 June, including more than 20 oil tankers, ship insurers and other shipping service providers, the government said, taking the number of shadow fleet and Russian LNG vessels it has sanctioned past 600. gCaptain reported that the notice designated 27 ships in total, among them four LNG carriers linked to the Arctic LNG 2 project: Orion, Merkuriy, Kosmos and Luch. It said Britain was the first G7 country to target them, and that Murmansk bunkering firm Kord-Bunker was also designated. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said the UK remained "one step ahead" of the Kremlin's tactics.
