Russian senator Rogozin proposes rigging shadow tankers with explosives after UK boarding

Russian senator Dmitry Rogozin suggested fitting shadow fleet tankers with explosive charges that could be detonated if the ships were seized, Splash247 reports, arguing that a few explosions and resulting oil spills would make Western navies reconsider. His remarks followed the UK's boarding of the tanker Smyrtos in the English Channel, its first such interdiction. The UK estimates the fleet numbers over 700 vessels carrying about three quarters of Russia's sanctioned oil exports.
